Great Bear Rainforest Exhibition at Mountain Galleries in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler
4599 Chateau Blvd, Whistler, BC, V0N 1B4
June 18, 2016
Many artists have made the journey into the Great Bear Rainforest to experience the wilderness and beauty of the Earth's largest intact temperate rainforest. Maureen Enns, Doria Moodie and Charlie Easton are among those artists, and they are excited to be sharing their passion for the protection and preservation of this area through this exhibition.
Enns first visited the area in the early 90's to photograph and study the Grizzly Bears along with renowned naturalist Charlie Russell. It was then that she got to know Ian and Karen McAllister, founders of Pacific Wild. The McAllisters were fundamental in the creation and concept of The Great Bear Rainforest and named 'leaders of the 21st Century' by Time Magazine. Moodie also spent a considerable amount of time in the area. She is passionate about the protection of the “spirit bear” and putting an end to trouphy hunting in the area. Both Enns and Moodie will have pieces on display.
Join Mountain Gallery in Whistler in celebrating the beautiful, natural landscape of the Great Bear Rainforest through a selection of new artist works. Contributing artist Charlie Easton and Pacific Wild's Colette Heneghan will be in attendance to speak to the works and the effort to protect the Great Bear Rainforest. Special edition photographs by Ian McAllister will be available via silent auction, with all proceeds going to Pacific Wild.
